A Library label is hinged by its left margin on thje front end paper, which also bears the ownership marks of the Johannesburg estate Company Decr.1891 in ink, and the two line rubber stamp of the Rand Pioneers Association. 134 pages including advertisement leaves, the work gives an alphabetical directory, a classified professions and trades directory and a street directory. The firsrt Johannesburg directory, and as such a remarkable insight into the growth and extent of the fledgling city only 6 years after its establishment.
