The illustrations were photographed direct from the original lithographs and reproduced from engravings made by the printer. The eight four-color plates were printed by Robert Collins Lithography from laser-scanned separations made at ReproMedia Incorporated, San Francisco. Bindings were executed by The Schuberth Bookbindery. The edition of 550 copies was designed and printed by Jonathan Clark at The Artichoke Press in Mountain View, California. Publication Number 178 of The Book Club of California." Excerpt from the Foreword: "[T]his monograph covers only lithographers who worked in Mexico. Although other great lithographers including Frederick Catherwood and Carl Nebel treated Mexican subjects, their work was engraved and printed in Europe or the United States, and thus they are not represented here. While earlier studies have tended to be highly selective, and have been essentially from the point of view of art history, I have sought to present not only a history of the art, but also of typography in relationship to it, and an exhaustive listing of examples of lithography, with the hope that various disciplines may be served.".
