Full red leather binding with gilt decorations on front cover and spine. The decorations create a facsimile effect by resembling metal clasps. There are at least two dates from the 1940s and at least one date from the 1920s, but most of the photos are undated. Photos are c. 1920s-1940s. Most of the photos are likely c. 1940s. Album: 7" x 9." Unpaginated, forty leaves. About 140 original black-and-white photographs and c. 60 printed black-and-white photographs ("printed" meaning they are copies of the original). Pages are very clean and intact except for slight age toning, rippling, and the small occasional mark. A few of the pages have glue residue and are adhered together. Covers are clean and intact overall but have slight wear to extremities and cracking along front and back outer joints (largest splits are at the head and tail of front outer joint and measure 1 1/2" x 1 3/4," respectively). Photographs are very clean and intact except for light age toning, a few wrinkles, and slight rippling. A Very Good copy. An original photo album kept by a couple, Harry and Edna Mills, from La Habra, California. The photos show their home in La Habra, their friends and neighbors, and scenes from their trips to Oregon, Colorado, and Florida. The Millses may have been retirees from the East Coast. Among the subjects in the photos are portraits, residences, and gardens in La Habra; logging trucks, majestic trees, and a coastal highway in Oregon; Balboa Island; Boulder Dam; Mr. Princeton and Trout Creek Pass; Glenwood Canyon; Mt. Massive; Mintern and Eagle River Valley; Leadville, Colorado; Eagle River Bridge; Red Cliff, Colorado; Battle Mount Highway; Lake of the Ozarks; and home of W. D. Pawley, former U.S. Ambassador. Some of the photos are photo postcards. Most of the photos are tipped-in but several are laid in the back. Also included are a few greeting cards.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Very Good.
