5 vols, a complete set of the Great War Chronicle of this noted regiment. Near fine copies in the original green armorial ckloth as issued, neat library bookplate inside ffep, small rectangular withdrawn stamp on title else clean and tight with no other markings. Scarce. Armorial bookplate and ink ownership signature of Aubrey Vere Spencer uin each volume. Lt.- Col. Aubrey Vere Spencer was born on 4 April 1886. He was the son of Aubrey John Spencer and Florence Mary Janson. He married Gwendoline Esther Hall Murton, daughter of George Neames Murton, on 15 September 1926.1 He died on 7 June 1973 at age 87.1 He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. He was educated at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, Wye, Kent, England. He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1914. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1914 in the service of the 3rd Battalion Ox and Bucks Light Infantry. He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, being mentioned in despatches.
