Armorial bookplate and ink ownership signature of Aubrey Vere Spencer uin each volume. Lt.- Col. Aubrey Vere Spencer was born on 4 April 1886. He was the son of Aubrey John Spencer and Florence Mary Janson. He married Gwendoline Esther Hall Murton, daughter of George Neames Murton, on 15 September 1926.1 He died on 7 June 1973 at age 87.1 He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. He was educated at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, Wye, Kent, England. He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1914. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1914 in the service of the 3rd Battalion Ox and Bucks Light Infantry.
