Danish missionary Martha Sanne is quoted in Frederick Hale's 'Norwegian Missionaries in Natal and Zululand' as saying of Emanuelson and his Norwegian wife: "They work amongst the K's in Pietermaritzburg, go around to the worst place and have meetings in bars, warehouses, etc. During the dry season they usually go out into the country and work in that way."
