Six magazine issues in one volume. Original publisher's decorative cloth binding. Green cloth binding with color illustration on front cover and small color illustration on spine. 10 3/4" x 14 1/2." 426 pages, complete, except for one leaf (Pages 365-366) which included the Table of Contents for the December 1905 issue. Many black-and-white illustrations, complete. Four additional pages in back comprising the two-page Index and two pages of advertisements. Many other ads for various businesses, products, and services also included. Pages are very clean and intact except for light age toning, the small occasional mark, and faint dampstaining along bottom edges throughout. Covers are very clean and intact except for slight bumping and wear to corners and head and tail of spine, light rubbing, faint scratches, slight darkening, and a few small marks. Binding is tight. A Very Good copy. A bound collection of the first six issues, namely, Volume I, No. 1. (July 1905) through No. 6 (December 1905), of the magazine, American Homes and Gardens. As suggested by its name, American Homes and Gardens was a home and garden magazine published from 1905-1914. The aim of the magazine was to address subjects relating to home construction, architecture, and garden design as well as "home betterment" or general home-related topics. The following is a list of some of the titles of articles and features in each issue. No. 1 (July 1905): "The Entrance Front--'The Rocks,'" "Japanese Wisteria Arbors," "'Kingdor,' a Swiss Chalet," and "Science for the Home: The Dangers of Cheap Homes," and "The Spanish Missions of Texas and Arizona." No. 2 (August 1905): "'Crow's Nest,' the Bungalow of Dr. J. H. Huddleston," "Angoras for Pleasure and Profit," "Luther Burbank and Plant Breeding," "Principles of Home Decoration: II.--Concerning Halls," and "Science for the Home: Ventilation for the House." No. 3 (September 1905): "Notable American Homes--'Woodcrest,' the Estate of James W. Paul, Jr. Esq, Radnor, Pennsylvania," "Helps to Home Building: Living in the House," "The Autumn Bulb Planting," "Science for the Home: Plumbing on the Farm," and "The Training of Cavalry Officers in France." No. 4 (October 1905): "'The Monastery,' the House of Charles P. Searle, Esq.," "How to Lay Out a Wild Wood Garden," "The Furniture of Our Forefathers," "A Southern California Ranch," and "Science for the Home: Humidity Within the House--Heating the House." No. 5 (November 1905): "Notable American Homes--The Summer House of Murry Guggenheim, Esq., Hollywood, New Jersey," "'The Needles,' the Country House of Mrs. B. P. Cheney, "Glass for Building and Paving," "The Transplanting of Growing Trees," and "The Household: The Man as Housekeeper."
