Original letter handwritten in dark blue ink on beige paper. Letter on stationery with the following printed header: "George Jean Nathan, 44 West 44th Street, New York; Cable Address: Nathgene, N. Y." Dated [May?] 26, 1931. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2." One page. Letter is very clean and intact except for a few horizontal and vertical fold liens (perhaps original), light age toning, slight wrinkling, and a few minuscule marks. A Very Good, almost Near Fine copy. George Jean Nathan (1882-1958) was an American drama critic and magazine editor. Nathan was an editor of the literary magazine, The Smart Set, and also co-founded and edited The American Mercury and The American Spectator. In this letter, Nathan writes to H. D. Trevelyan. The letter reads, "To H. D. Trevelyan - with good wishes - this inscription to be placed in any one of my books that he specifically [--?] for. George Jean Nathan, [May?] 26, 1931." The letter may have had additional materials laid in which are no longer included.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
