Original billhead on beige paper with typed and printed text in black ink and handwriting in blue ink and pencil. Stamped date of August 24, 1918 on billhead. Location of the business is Seattle, Washington. The customer was Neely & Simmons of Oakville, Washington. 8 1/2" x 8 1/4." Paper has a few horizontal and vertical fold lines. Billhead is very clean and intact except for slight wrinkling, a few small marks to front and back, and a couple pinholes about left of center that may have come from a pin or staple. A Very Good copy. A billhead from the National Grocery Company to Neely & Simmons. The handwritten portions include marginal notations and numerical figures for totaling the cost of items purchased. The items sold were "1 cs Rosedale S1 Beef 1 Glass," "1 sk Sml Wh Beans," "1 [sk] Head Rice," "4 Pails xxx Herring," and "1 Asst Pipes." The National Grocery Company is also named as the owners of "Reliance Brand High Grade Canned Fruits and Vegetables" and agents for "Lipton's Teas." The National Grocery Company (NGC) was founded circa 1910 and was among the first tenants of Seattle's National Building. The NGC was a tenant of the building until 1930.. Ephemera.
