Collection of one account book and seven pilot logs (logbooks) from the Northwestern Steamship Company. A few pages have loss of text from chipping, tearing, or other damage; sold as is. 1893-1895. Measurements range between about 3 3/4" x 11 1/4" and 5 1/4" x 11 1/2." Unpaginated, each book is at least c. 100 pages. Multiple locations including Seattle and PortTownsend. Most of the logbooks are for the route between Seattle and Port Townsend. Pages are clean and intact overall, but there is age toning throughout, slight darkening or smudging, the small occasional mark, and closed tears and chips on a few pages (some of the chips have resulted in a significant loss of text but this only affects a few pages). Covers, if available (not all of the books have formal covers), are clean and intact overall but have slight darkening, some chipping at the corners and edges, and light to moderate rubbing. Each book and the entire collection are Very Good. The Northwestern Steamship Company was operated by Captain D. B. Jackson and served the Puget Sound area. This collection comprises an account book and seven pilot logs. The account book shows income and expenses relating to the operation of the steamships, "Rosalie," "Idaho," and "George E. Starr" from 1894-1895. The pilot logs show some of the routes run by different ships and list points of travel and times of arrival and departure. The following is a summary of the items in this collection. 1) Combination account book and pilot logs for the steamships, "Rosalie," "Idaho," and "George E. Starr," 1894-1895, Seattle-Port Townsend; account book is c. thirty-six pages; this book in its entirety is at least c. 100 pages; red paper wrappers backed with brown cloth. 2) Pilot log, October-December 1893, Seattle-Port Townsend; brown paper wrappers with string binding. 3) Pilot log for steamer Idaho, May-August 1894, Seattle-Port Townsend; brown paper wrappers backed with brown cloth. 4) Pilot log for steamer Rosalie, May-November 1894, Seattle. 5) Pilot log, August-November 1894, Seattle-Port Townsend; brown paper wrappers backed with red cloth. 6) Pilot log possibly for the S.S. Washington, November 1894-February 1895, Seattle-Port Townsend; brown paper wrappers backed with red cloth. 7) Pilot log for steamer George E. Starr, November 1894-March 1895, Seattle-Port Townsend; brown paper wrappers backed with red cloth. 8) Pilot log for steamer Idaho, June-July 1895, Seattle-Port Townsend; red paper wrappers with string binding..
