Original Stereocard Photograph - "Clayton" (Estelle Clayton)

Original stereocard on yellow board. No date, circa late 1800s to early 1900s. Board measures 6 7/8" x 3 1/2"; photograph measures 5 1/4" x 2 3/4." "New H Series." on left side of board. "Portraits of Celebrities" on right side of board. Photograph show a portrait Estelle Clayton in side profile with the left side of her face showing. She wears a bonnet, dress, earrings, and pearl necklace. "Clayton" listed on bottom of right half of photograph. A clean copy. Estelle Clayton (1867-1917) was an American stage actress, singer, dancer, and librettist. Although she was famous for her performing roles in comic operas, she wrote several librettos and was known for adapting novels and stories for stage performance. The photograph of Clayton in this stereograph was originally taken by New York photographer William R. Howell (1846-1890) whose subjects were often celebrities in the theater industry..
