A sermon by Theodore Parker (1810-1860), an American Transcendentalist, Unitarian minister, and abolitionist. Parker addresses many subjects in this sermon. He begins with a vision of idyllic society attained by a religious revival, but he proceeds to list "five great evils of mankind today" which are war, slavery, the degradation of women, corrupt government, and "selfish antagonism in society." Parker then makes several arguments for Unitarianism and Universalism as being man's "true salvation" and the "natural religion" and appears to imply that other Christian sects are "false religions.".
