Pickthall, Marmaduke : The Children of the Nile

John Murray, London, 1908

317 pages (complete). Pickthall was a devoted Arabist. He converted to Islam in mid-life. His novels were much appreciated by Lawrence and Forster, and he later translated, to much acclaim, the Q'uran. This novel was the result of a memorable visit to Egypt on the invitation of the Egyptian Prime Minister's wife. The covers are worn and scuffed. As it is a Colonial edition the covers have elaborate imperial decoration. The spine has a handwritten number. However the covers are placid and benign. The contents are in very good condition. They are clean, clear, surprising youthful and fresh-faced, certain and tidy. fk. Book Condition: Fair. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket
