Original publisher's pamphlet printed on white paper. 6" x 9 3/4." 144 pages, complete. Pamphlet has attached mylar wrappers bound with string. Pages are very clean and intact but there is age toning throughout. Slight chipping at the edges. A Very Good copy. Excerpt from the first page: "In compliance with a resolution of the Senate of the 11th instant, in relation to the public accounts of John C. Fremont, I transmit the accompanying report from the Secretary of the Treasury, to whom the resolution was referred. ... To enable you to comply, so far as the information is to be found in this department, with the resolution of the Senate of the 11th instant, requesting you 'to cause to be communicated to the Senate at the earliest day convenient copies of the letters and vouchers filed in the department in support of claims presented by and allowed to John C. Fremont as an officer of the United States government, from the time he commenced his first expedition to California in the year eighteen hundred and forty-two, showing what claims, if any, were disallowed, and the reasons for their disallowance. Also, whether any moneys placed in the hands of John C. Fremont, for disbursements on the public account, remain unaccounted for at the treasury; whether any drafts drawn or liabilities incurred by him in the public service remain unliquidated; and, if so, in whose hands are such unliquidated drafts, and why have they not been paid?'".
