R. BULLIMORE : 1943 ORIGINAL WORLD WAR II MANUSCRIPT DIARY HANDWRITTEN BY A SALVATION ARMY BAND MEMBER SERVING IN HOBART TASMANIA

48mo - over 3" - 4" tall. On offer is an original, 1943 manuscript relic of Australian World War II era with the unique perspective of being a diary handwritten by a member of the Salvation Army in Tasmania whose entries from January 1, 1943 through to the end of April 1943 include training, band practice, entertaining troops, meal times etc. in those four months. Intriguingly the diary begins on January 1st: 'Re-dedicated myself to Christ to have him as my best friend for year.' Handwritten by 'R. Bullimore' as he signs his second entry on January 8th and then the rest of his somewhat sporadic writings with initials. A very personable, charming man as one sees from his last entry on April 1st: 'April Fools day, I was very shifty and wary all morning and no one caught me by a long chalk!' 'Back to Barracks my best cobber in band has gone back to his school, teaching base, drummer, Alan Stubs. He was a great novelty in band, caught everyone's eye with the way he swung his sticks.' Overall the 2.75 x 3 inch book is VG.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Very Good
