Original billhead with printed text and handwriting in black ink on beige paper. Printed header with small black-and-white illustrations of a cow, pig, and sheep at top. Datelined January 1874 in San Francisco, California. 4 3/4" x 8 1/4." Billhead is intact but has a few horizontal fold lines, slight wrinkling, small holes from pins or staples in upper-left corner on front, darkening on back, and slight soiling on the front. A Good copy. An original billhead from R. Sweet, a beef packer at 561 Mission Street in San Francisco. The billhead acknowledges one line item purchased by a client, "M. [R.?] Barber," on January 23. The item is described as "Butcher [--?]" and totaled $4.50. The printed header reads, "San Francisco, [fill-in date], M. [client's name], Bought of R. Sweet, 561 Mission St., Beef Packer.". Ephemera.
