Original publisher's brown paper wrappers. 6 1/4" x 9 1/2." Pages 519-707, complete. Pages are very clean and intact except for minuscule age toning and slightly bumped corners along fore-edge. Covers are clean and intact overall but there are surface marks and rubbing to front and back, slight age toning along edges of the covers, edge wear, chipping to head and tail of spine, and a chip measuring about 1 1/2" x 1" in lower-right corner of front cover. There is also some glue repair along the spine. A Very Good copy. A comprehensive study of the Coeur d'Alene (Snchitsu'umshtsn) language. Topics include phonology, morphology, intransitive and intransitive verbs, prefixes, suffixes, reduplication, glottalization, syntax, and clauses. Coeur d'Alene is considered an endangered language. As of 2014, only two elders were documented as being able to speak Coeur d'Alene fluently. However, in recent years, there has been and effort to preserve and revive Coeur d'Alene and the language is finding new speakers from different generations. Written by the prominent American anthropologist and linguist, Gladys A. Reichard (1893-1955), who is best-known for her studies of Indigenous languages and cultures.
