No cracks or tears to joints and hinges, no bookplates or stickers. Pages are clear, with very readable text, clear illustrations, and virtually all fold-out maps in Very Good Plus condition. The volumes take the reader through Heathen mythology, then through Ancient and Medieval, and to more Modern Times. The compiler addresses nations individually, decisive battles, celebrated women, the U.S. Civil War, a close up of England, and much more. Style is part narration and part biography, with statistics made as clearly as possible. A wonderful, historical, sweeping compilation. In better condition than most copies on the market.
