She was also accomplished in sculpture, water colour painting, folk art painting, copper plate etching, stained glass, fashion design, and photography. Her works are included in the Bronfman Claridge Collection and the Kathleen Richardson Collection. She was the first foreigner to be invited to put on an exhibition of her work at the Netherlands Tile Museum. She represented Manitoba at "Artisanage," the Arts and Culture Program of the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. She was sent by CIDA to Sri Lanka in 1984 to appraise their ceramics industry and to advise the government on how to enter the export market in ceramics. She was nominated for the prestigious Saidye Bronfman Award in 1991, and following her untimely death in 1996, the Manitoba Crafts Council established the Judith Ryan Memorial Award for Excellence in Artistry and Craftsmanship. In addition to artistic talent, Judith had great literary talent, and was about to write the story of her life and her art. In his grief at her death, her husband, John, felt compelled to write this book in her memory and as a celebration of her life and her art.
