Hand drawn cartoon in black and white, 14 x 18 inches, on textured off-white paper, in wooden frame with glass. Drawing in excellent condition, frame is worn. Some erasures and guidelines visible on drawing. Drawing shows a sad cow with the words "Tax Payer" on his side, watching five milkmaids with the words "Income Tax, Local Taxes, Sales Tax, Excise Tax, Hidden Taxes" on their clothes rushing to milk the cow. Inscription on bottom, "To Wally Getz from his friend, Shoemaker." Vaughn Richard Shoemaker (1902-1991) was a two-time Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist.
