This short monograph depicting the lives, literature, and scholarly writings on Rabbi Loew and Comenius, in the form of short theses and a bibliography, is the work of Hugo Stransky. Born in Prague on May 4, 1905, Hugo Stransky was a rabbi in Nachod and Zilina, Czechoslovakia, until his emigration to Great Britain in 1939. He moved to Australia in 1945, to New Zealand in 1952, and to the United States in 1955. He was an active member of Mizrachi, and he served as rabbi of Beth Hillel, a refugee congregation in New York City's Washington Heights. He emigrated to Israel in 1976, and died in Kefar Saba on March 31, 1983. OCLC lists one copy worldwide. Subjects: Judah Loew ben Bezalel, ca. 1525-1609. Dedicated by the author in pen on title page in 1974. Light soiling to covers, clean otherwise. Near fine condition. (GER-33-41)
