Covers have slight corner and edge wear and rubbing. Slight to moderate foxing on the pages. Binding is tight. Caleb Strong (1745-1819) was an American politician and lawyer. Strong served as the sixth and tenth Governor of Massachusetts between 1800 and 1807 and 1812 and 1816, respectively, and as a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts between 1789 and 1796. He also served on the Northampton Committee of Safety during the American Revolutionary War, helped draft the Massachusetts State Constitution in 1779, and was a leading member of the Federalist Party in Massachusetts.
