The Christian Citizen in a Multi-Racial Society - A Report of the Rosettenville Conference July 1949

Christian Council of South Africa, Strand, Cape Province, 1949

107 pages (complete). An assured copy. A few years before the Dutch Reformed Churches persuaded themselves of a Christian Ideology to support Apartheid at their conference in Pretoria, the South African Churches met, just after the imposition of apartheid, to discuss a Christian reaction and role. Albert Luthuli's historic address to the conference is included. As an insight into the early intellectual and religious resistance to apartheid, this booklet is invaluable. This copy includes many newspaper clippings, dated from the early 1950s, from newspapers such as: "The Rand Daily Mail", "The Star", "The Cape Argus", "The Economist" amongst others. These are in very good condition. The covers of the booklet have some scuffing, handling wear and marks, user creasing. They are benign and patient. The contents have some occasional annotations. Pages 66-67 have tanning. Otherwise, the pages are clean, clear, comfortable, sure, certain, amenable. fk. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Softcover. Jacket: No Jacket
