Original publisher's beige paper program. 1962-1963. 8 1/4" x 11." Four pages (one leaf folded in half and printed on all sides), complete. One small black-and-white illustration of some of the performers on front, complete. Horizontal and vertical fold lines. Pages are very clean and intact overall. Binding is tight. Pages slightly age-toned. A few wrinkles throughout. A Very Good copy. Program for a performance by Rapsodia Romina, the Romanian National Folk Ensemble that was founded in 1949. Rapsodia Romina featured Romanian folk and dance music and made its debut tour in the United States in 1962, which began at the Seattle World's Fair. Accompanying the folk ensemble on this tour was the Barbu Lautaru Orchestra, who are also named in this program. Dancers and musicians named on front. Remaining pages comprise the program which includes names and descriptions of each act or feature. The Community Concert Association was part of a movement to bring the arts from metropolitan areas to smaller communities that did not necessarily have the funds to host such events. Community Concerts was founded in 1922 as the Organized Audience Movement, which was led by Dema Harshbarger and Ward French. Columbia Concerts Corporation (which would later become Columbia Artists Management, Inc.) became interested in Community Concerts and acquired it in 1928 as a subsidiary. After the acquisition, Community Concerts became Community Concerts, Inc., which helped local communities establish their own Community Concert Associations. Community Concerts enjoyed many decades of success under Columbia Artists until 1999 when it was sold to Trawick Artists Management. Unfortunately, Community Concerts became defunct in 2003 when Trawick Artists became bankrupt, but today, many of the local Community Concert Associations still operate independently.. Book.
