One album has brown cloth-covered boards with string binding and the other has black paper-covered boards with string binding. Both albums have interior leaves made of black paper. Many handwritten captions are included in white ink on the pages. Some photos are tipped in while others are inserted in paper mounts. Some photos appear to be missing; albums sold as is. Several photos have dates but most are undated in both albums, circa 1915-1941. Brown album: 11 1/4" x 7 1/4," c. 363 photos, c. fifty-four leaves. Black album: 13" x 10," c. 205 photos, nineteen leaves. About 568 photos in total. Photo measurements vary but many are about 3 1/2" x 5 1/2." Many of the photos show scenes in Chicago, Minneapolis, and California although there are other depicted locations such as Seattle and Sweden. Pages of both albums are clean and intact overall but there is slight wrinkling throughout and a few have chipped edges. Covers are clean and intact overall but there is light to moderate rubbing, moderate edge wear, and a few marks from a rubberband that once wrapped around both albums. Photos are very clean and intact overall except for age toning, slight rubbing, and a few wrinkles. A few photos have large closed tears. Each of the albums and the photo collection as a whole are Very Good. These are two original albums that were kept by a couple, Arthur Lochman and Minnie (Lindquist) Lochman, and their family. Arthur (c. 1882-?) worked as a chef. He and his wife, Minnie (c. 1888-?), had two daughters, Helen (1907-?) and Margurette "Margie" (1910-?), and possibly a third, Norma Mae (?-?). The photos show the Lochman family living in Chicago, which was possibly their first place of residence, and later in Minneapolis at 1200 West 28th Street. By the early 1920s, the Lochmans moved to California and lived in Los Angeles at 441 S Ford Boulevard. In the 1930s, the family moved to San Bruno in San Mateo County. Although most of the photos are undated, they appear to show the Lochmans' family life over an approximate twenty-five-year period. The photos show the Lochmans' vacations throughout California and their visits to relatives in the state of New York. Most of the photos are family portraits. The following are some of the other subjects in the photos in the brown album: Lincoln Park Zoo; Auto Court in Las Vegas, Nevada; Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge under construction during day and night; tunnel entrance on Yerba Buena Island; a Girl Scouts party; University of Washington; and Sweden. The following are some other subjects in the black album: photographic greeting cards; a pet chick eating rye bread on the table; and Big Basin. The black album also has other printed ephemera relating to the Lochman family.. Ephemera. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: Soft cover
