In Volume I is a receipt tacked to the hinge that reads "Berkley, California, Apr. 22, 1916 This Book(s) (4 Vols) was sold to Henry Byron Phillips by Holmes (Kearry) of San Francisco." A previous owner also wrote in black ink on the top of the inside cover with the date of Oct. 1849. All 4 Volumes have a stamp imprint on the first page that reads " Smyth & Co, 12 Berry St, Liverpool." This beautiful collection is complete, clean and binding is tight.. Book.
