First edition. DW. FLAT SIGNED by author to title page, no other inscriptions. Envelope addressed in Thesiger's hand laid down to front endpaper with two-sided hand-written letter from Thesiger on headed writing paper, dated 5th July 1987. It is a personal letter apologising for not replying sooner, (due to an operation and hospital stay), states how pleased he was that the recipient liked the book and goes on to say how lucky he has been to be to lead the life of his choice - somethin he thinks would be very difficult now. He says he has been amazed how successful his book has been and also that he has another book coming out in November -"Visions of a Nomad". He adds that he is pleased about the red kites and peregrines returning to the Elan Valley and that it was a favourite haunt of his as a boy. Loosely inserted are 11 newspaper cuttings, mostly obituaries of Thesiger, some are longer articles plus two photocopied reviews of his books. Outer edge of pages sl. soiled o/w VG+ in wrapper.
