A souvenir booklet published on the occasion of the Golden Gate International Exposition (GGIE) of 1939-1940, a World's Fair that commemorated the completion of the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge. The GGIE was originally held from February 18-October 29, 1939, but ongoing efforts allowed it to reopen from May 25-September 29, 1940. The fair took place on San Francisco's Treasure Island. This booklet provides brief summaries of historical events involving the United States Marine Corps (USMC). Among the historical figures and events discussed in this pamphlet are Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and the War of 1812, "famous American flags," the Mexican-American War, Admiral David Farragut's fleet during the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and World War I.
