Two original tax stamps on one leaf of blue paper. 3 3/4" x 6 3/8." These stamps are perfins with two punched holes (one on each stamp) showing they have been used or invalidated. Paper is very clean and intact overall. A few small wrinkles. A Fine copy. Most of the text and illustrations are printed in black ink. Printed in red is the stamp number. Each stamp includes a green border with the words, "United States Internal Revenue [IRS]," "Series of 1878," and an illustrated portrait of President Zachary Taylor. "USIR" watermark. The stamps have fill-in sections but no handwriting. There are lines for filling in the number of "Gallons proof spirit" and lines for the signatures of "U.S. Storekeeper" and "U.S. Gauger." Stamps are virtually identical except for the stamp number. Tax, or revenue, stamps are special stamps that confirm a tax has been paid on certain items.
