Beaver was a passenger and freight steamer built in 1910 and commissioned into the United States Navy on October 1, 1918. It was designed to be a submarine tender, providing repair and support services to submarine fleets in port and at sea. This booklet is a newsletter published on board for the crew. It lists the crew and contains informational articles as well as amusing anecdotes of life at sea. At the time of publication, the crew were in training but were soon to be ordered to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The USS Beaver continued to provide support service until its decommissioning in 1946..
