On offer is a superb, original circa early 1800s through to 1847 manuscript and likely the lifetime research effort and written work on the history of wars throughout the world and what appears to be the ranking personnel. List upon list, conflict after conflict from ancient times, 1980 BC through to the 1840s and the Mexican Revolution was handwritten by a Von v.Loebell as inscribed on the fep in a later hand, the German author and compiler of this remarkable, significant historical 'database'. Research suggests the book was created in Wittenberg,[officially Lutherstadt Wittenberg], is a city in Saxony-Anhalt. The mind boggles with the enormity of the task and the resources Von v.Loebell needed to consult to accumulate this knowledge. We can only surmise that he was an academic or scholar who had access to a substantive library perhaps at the University of Wittenberg and while we were unable to find Von v.Loebell we believe local, fluent researchers would be able to find the specific man. Starting with conflicts as early as Oxyartes and Bactria,Stabrobates and Indus, Elam and Chedorlaomer, Assyrians and Egyptians von v.Loebell has numbered the conflicts through the centuries 1 through 3035 wars wherein he has with meticulous detail provided the names of the combatant's leadership being the generals, admirals and other top military and naval personnel. Very much a work in progress and updated with new data there are numerous cross outs there are also several sheets of paper with additional entries and notes tucked in. Tens of thousands of generals, admirals, officers and ranking staff names are listed by army, navy, divisions, some with birth/death dates, titles etc are meticulously recorded over the 420+ hand numbered pages in the largish 10 x 8.5 x 2 inch book whose binding rubbed and cracked, spine has a titled pasted down (upside down!) application with paper, some minor staining, but overall G+..
