16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. This is a collection of the 25 pocket diaries of Earl A. Westmoreland [b. May 9, 1892]. The books span 1917 to 1955 containing a very detailed day to day record of Mr. Westmoreland's life from the age of 25. It is a facinating read. Mr. Westmoreland was a lumberjack, inventor, mechanic, bible studies teacher and business owner. His story is the story of the northwest (Washington State) where a persons success depended on hard work and thrift. "Fixing Elder's drag saw engine at noon." "Fine day. Finished big tree in the morning. Felled big tree in the afternoon." "I went with Joe Waltrip in his Stutz roadster. Puyallup. Pitched tent. First meeting of Camp M. Fairground." "Leave for home. Father paralized and unconcious....gradually sinking...sinking...passed away 7:30." Each diary has a daily weather report, the type of work performed and comments about loans, accidents, deaths, etc. Some years he even records how many meals he had each day. Researchers of the early lumber industry in the Northwest will be especially pleased with this archive as will researchers and collectors of Seventh-Day Adventist and Latter Day Saints epehmera.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Very Good
