circa.1890. Stereograph on yellow board (7 x 3 1/2 inhc) with title at the bottom of the right photo. Image of the stone arch bridge, 138 feet high, looking toward Brooklyn. It crosses the Harlem River carrying water for the New York 41 mile aqueduct water system. Build in 1848 during a ten year period the bridge had a steel arch added in the 1920s some 450 feet long, the total bridge is over 2,000 feet long. The city of New York is remodeling the structure for 2011. Unusual view of one of the landmarks in New York for over a hundred and fifty years. Fine clean copy,. Book.
