Fall Of Man

8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Gold title and motif on grey boards very clean and unmarked VG+. Pictorial dustjacket is complete with a little shelf wear and with the price crossed through. A novel written under the author's real name who also used the pseudonym Leo Bruce. First published by Macmillan in 1955 this novel is the story of Antony Scaw, as told by his friend, whose orderly life is changed by forces which mark him down as rebellious and non conformist. It plots his life from childhood before the First World War and his marriage to "one of the Bright Young Things" up to the present where the stubbornly independent man sees society's revenge on him. It reflects, perhaps, the author's own experiences as a non conformist and as a homosexual, who was prosecuted in 1953 and imprisoned and warned that he should not write about this which forced him to go to Morocco to live and write. *** A SCARCE TITLE *** B2E.
